Derailed No More

On Friday my post was how the day’s envisioned plans were derailed by a broken tooth. Saturday was the make-up day, but it didn’t start out on easy street.

First, I like to use a smaller cross-body purse when I am wandering about in a large, crowded space. As I was transferring needed items, I could not find my fob for the keyless car. Search one purse, search another purse, pull everything out of searched purses – no fob. I knew it had to be in one of those purses.

I locked the car, then brought my purse out to see if it would unlock. First purse, car stayed locked. Second purse, beep beep – unlocked. Relief! Somehow I missed it (could I have been a little frantic in my search?) I sure didn’t want to replace that item!

Second, I grabbed my camera just in case I wanted to get a picture and needed to zoom in. Thinking ahead, I thought I should replace the battery with one I’d recently charged. Old battery out, newly charged battery in. Wait! It’s not fitting? I can’t close the battery door. Take it out, turn it around, slip it in. Won’t close! Did I break it? I set it aside, maybe time will help. It didn’t. Will I need to get a new camera? Try one more time . . .  Turn it around, peer inside the space, try to match up the contact points. Ahhh! It slid in and the door shut. Problem solved.

Finally, we are in the car, on our way. Five miles down the road I glance at the GPS and it indicates no phone is connected. It should show a phone, there are two in the car. I mention this to my husband. He checks his pocket, no phone. Turn around to retrieve the phone. I know at some point we will be separated at the auto show, the phone will help us find each other.

Once again we head down the road. After a rocky start all went well the rest of the day. I only have eighty pages left to read in Turtles All the Way Down. I enjoyed lunch and dinner out. No lantern was purchased, but that’s not a problem. I will continue to look. Yes, we did need that phone to locate each other. Plus, there was one car that caught my eye

Too bright? 🙂

  1. That sounds like a stressful morning, I am glad that your day got better! I am constantly losing my keys. I think those keyless start cars make you less aware of your keys because you don’t need them as often!

A rocky start, but a perfect ending with that lime green machine! I think it’s perfect!!

This sounds like a lot of days I have had recently. Do not pass go, do not collect $200 over and over and over again!!!! I like that car! It would definitely catch people’s eyes! I wonder if you would get lots of tickets though. ..

  4. That’s a fun color for sure! How did you like Turtles? I read it recently too and loved it. It’s one of my favorite John Green books!

I was already to say yes too bright but it’s a HONDA! They’ve really brought out some new colors for them and they seem to be selling. Is this the sporty civic with the spoiler on the back? I say get anything HONDA!

    • Yes, this was the Civic SI (so my husband tells me). Unfortunately, it is a bit to low to the ground for this old lady. But it’s a fun color.

  6. First: Is the tooth okay? Second: My computer blipped when I tried to post on March 2 and it backdated as March 1. This annoys me. The post is there, but I like right dates and if I change it now, links to it are lost, apparently. Third: I have noticed a trend of these types of things happening with Slicers – are there gremlins out to get us? and Last: I should say that car caught your eye! But you look great in it, so all is well! Thank you for a slice full of smiles (and commiserating groans). 🙂

    • First, the back half of the tooth is gone, but apparently there is no nerve exposed. So, for now no pain. It will be removed Tuesday. I imagine there will be pain then. As for the car, I love that color, but I would never be able to buy something that bright. It was a fun moment.

  7. Some days are like that. We are slightly “off” and things just don’t go smoothly. I’m having lots of moments like that. Hmmm…is it age-related? Anyway, your day ended well. You are absolutely beaming in that lime-green car. I am lime-green with envy!

Love the color green – it looks like something you need! Happy that your rocky start ended up with a good lunch and dinner out and time to finish a book.

  9. Love that green color! Your post reminded me of the time Allan and I were driving to Florida. We had to turn around three times within a few miles of our house for things we forgot!

    Love the car.

I love our smart car with the keyless start and linking to my phone. Many times I’ve forgotten my phone somewhere but know it right away because of the car.

  11. Not too bright. You will always find it in the parking lot.

Your post captures the sort of discombobulated beginings we all have from time to time.
