I started to reach for a book to read, then I thought of the SOS invitation today
What can you stop doing in order to make time and space to write?
Go stop it.
Write.
So I walked away from my book stack, opened my computer to write.
The pandemic has caused a lengthy separation in our family. Some of that ended this week. All parties (some in their 60’s, 80’s, and 90’s) were finally vaccinated. It was good to see the whole person, rather than just a head via zoom. It was good to put arms around a body and hug rather than wave farewell via zoom. It was good to have face-to-face conversations rather than garbled sound via zooms with unstable connections.
A year of family togetherness has been lost. Time is precious and we need to take advantage of every opportunity to be reunited. I know we will make the nine hour drive to be together again and again.
The image of arms around bodies is sticking with me. It is precious to be close to people. It is also precious to put down a book and make time to write.
“A year of family togetherness has been lost. Time is precious and we need to take advantage of every opportunity to be reunited.” So true…that is our family’s goal, as well.
So thankful you were with your family. I love how you wrote about all the good things you could do being in person with them.
I love this line: It was good to see the whole person, rather than just a head via zoom. It’s so true that it feels different and SO good to see the whole person. I was surprised when my students walked in on the first day of hybrid – they were so much littler than their big personalities on zoom! I’m grateful for vaccinations and I’m glad you got in-person time with your family.
Yay! I love the hugging part. I love the precious part. I’m glad you wrote.
I’m so happy you got to be with family this week! So very special.
What a gift it is to be with loved ones! Glad everyone’s vaccinated, and you made the drive. Here’s to more road trips!
So glad for your reunion, so glad for the shots. One of my friends that I at least saw monthly came over with asparagus for me. It felt like a blink ago that she came over with asparagus. We will meet at the end of summer and get back to our monthly routine soon, I hope… oh have we missed each other. XO
I am so with you. The family togetherness has become more precious than ever before. I am happy you had the hugs and conversations.
So grateful to have most of our vaccines completed for the family get together. I need to hug some more of my family.
You just reminded me of how precious that time is!!!
So true! Thankful you got be be with family this week.
