Noodles
I want them.
I need them.
I love them.
I’ve got to have them.
Noodles, tasty noodles:
Spaghetti,
Fettuccini,
Pappardelli,
Bucatini,
Angel hair.
They say they are carbs,
They say you shouldn’t eat them.
But . . .
I want them.
I need them.
I love them.
I’ve got to have them.
Zoodles to the rescue!
Zucchinis spiralized
Creates a healthier alternative.
Zoodles, tasty zoodles.
I want them.
I need them.
I love them.
I’ve got to have them.
And no guilt attached!
Earrings! by Judith Viorst inspired the format for this poem.
What a great mentor text to use…As I was reading along I wondered if you would accept noodles over noodles.
Love your dedication.
I love the play off Earrings! Too creative. I haven’t tried zoodles yet. I hav a spiralizer. Maybe one day soon…
I love this! I have been doing weight watchers for the last year. They try to convince you that zoodles taste as good as noodles. I am not sure I totally agree. Sometimes real pasta just tastes better.
Love the poem! As a carb fan myself, I get it. Haven’t tried doodles, but I need to look into it. 😊
Ok, I can honestly say I have never heard of zoodles. With being such a picky eater, I am sure I would prefer the noodles. 😦
I am smiling and thinking… yes, I must have noodles tonight, zoodles of noodles. As I read yours, I thought of Jack Prelutsky’s “Spaghetti, Spaghetti” and Shel Silverstein’s Spaghetti. May I add your poem to my folder with them?
Absolutely! I am honored.
Once again a fun and tasty slice. Enjoy your zoodles!
Loved the way you turned the noodles into zoodles. Fills the craving in a healthy way.
I have eaten more zucchini in the past six months, than in all the years before.
Love your poem! We’ve pretty well given up noodles – now use spaghetti squash for spaghetti and chickpea noodles for noodles. They work
Chickpeas made into noodles?
Love my pasta and haven’t tried Zoodles. Do you use a pasta sauce on them or eat them plain? Great poem.
Most of the time the zoodles are mixed in more like a stir fry, but I have mixed it with a tomato sauce.
I haven’t climbed onto the zoodles wagon….yet. I need to find a proper spirilizer. They look pretty and would be a wise choice for me.
Visit Amazon and you will have a lot of spiralizers to choose from.
What a fun format about such a universal topic! We all love our noodles. Have you really come to enjoy zoodles just as much? I am using gluten-free pasta these days. Some brands are actually pretty good…but still carbs.
They aren’t too bad. I make them a lot with Asian recipes. But I have a creamy tomato sauce and did them for a Greek pasta recipe.
Noodle and zoodles, and poetry, Oh my! Healthy and entertaining.
Great use of a mentor text! Although I would prefer the more healthy alternative, I’m afraid zoodles would never work in my house. Allan loves his pasta in just about any form, but it better not be disguised.
Yes! I recognized the organizational structure for Earrings! before you revealed your mentor text! Great poem, Elsie, and you gave me an idea. Do you make your own “zoodles” or can you buy them? I am guilty of loving carbs, and pasta is one of my downfalls. So zucchini spirals would work for me. Suggestions? If I have to make them, I am going to need direction! Thanks for a delightful poem to start my day!
Some stores do sell the zucchini spirals, but I think it’s a bit pricey. The spiralizer isn’t that expensive. The key to cooking with them is not to cook the zoodles very much. They get mushy and too much liquid when heated too long. There are lots of recipes on pinterest.
I love your transition from wanting the noodles to wanting the zoodles. You made me smile on this Friday morning:)
