Day 18: Eat Fit Go

It was lunch time. I had wandered, sampled my way through the new grocery store. I needed to pick up something for lunch. I didn’t feel like fighting the crowds to find a tasty morsel in the new store, but I had an idea of where to go.

I love to try out new restaurants. A new place opened recently that I had not yet visited. It’s not really a restaurant but it has food that you can eat there or take home. It is called Eat Fit Go. Their brochure says, Eat Well, Stay Fit, on the Go.

I walked into the store/restaurant (?) to face a  wall of refrigerated containers. Thankfully there was a young lady ready to explain what I was looking at. She handed me a brochure that listed all the ingredients in their meals. Everything is already cooked, it only has to be warmed in the microwave.

I studied the labels and menu before I selected a Fajita Smart Chicken bowl for my husband and Citrus Salmon with asparagus for me. They were quite good.

It’s a nice healthy option for my husband if I would be out of town for a night or two or when I don’t feel like cooking. It’s kind of nice to let someone else do the preparation and all I have to do is heat and eat.

  1. Damn, there’s not one in Chicago yet. This place looks awesome! I’d totally be into it with all my boring dietary nonsense. Ahhh, it would be like my only fast food! Love the concept of it. It’s cool to know places like this exist and I hope they franchise out here.

  2. It’s always nice to have someone else prepare a meal! Lucky you! It sounds like fresh food without additives, so double luck. Especially enjoyed this line – “sampled my way through the new grocery store.”

  3. It is interesting to read all the comments that came before me. Obviously everyone thinks this is a great idea. I’m not sure if I would take advantage of it myself, preferring to throw together my own meal. But I’m sure my son and daughter would find it useful for when I’m not around.

I really like the idea. Kinda reminds me of that Amazon store that is opening soon. Quick and healthy choices.

  5. Would love to have something like this near us for those days when we are both working on a project and suddenly realize it’s time to eat but neither of us has the energy to cook.

I need this by me!!!! Dinner is so hard at our house … deciding what to eat, which usually doesn’t happen until late in the day. That’s our biggest problem. No one wants to decide. But this would be a perfect solution for us now!

  7. Sounds great! Initially I thought this was a great title for a new blog. Instead it’s a great name for a new way to dine! When my kids were younger I used to go make a weeks worth of dinners at a place called Dream Dinners. The kids used to live to come help me assemble them. Made for a fun outing and an easier work week. This takes it a step further!

Wow, that looks wonderful. It’s rather like the new businesses opened up here that deliver meals to your door, or another one delivers the ingredients and the recipe. It’s a new step in eating out I guess, but it’s really eating in!

I saw this on the news when they opened. It sounds and looks like a place to have close by for “those days when”.

  10. What a great idea for a restaurant. So many people eat this way now, it is nice to see someone has found a healthy alternative to this style of eating.
