Night allows me to wander,
Unobserved,
Untraceable,
Unnoticed.
Snow changes everything.
My path discovered.
Still, I explore.
Steps visible,
But not decipherable.
Exploring, in the night.
Night allows me to wander,
Unobserved,
Untraceable,
Unnoticed.
Snow changes everything.
My path discovered.
Still, I explore.
Steps visible,
But not decipherable.
Exploring, in the night.
It’s making me crazy that I can’t figure this one out…..did your husband do it with a long po-go stick? xo
Beautiful photos and interesting words! I’m still trying to figure out who left the tracks!
What a great idea – phoetry! It does make one wonder the identity of the snow traveler!
Love it! You are an expert phoetry writer. I too love to follow tracks unknown.
This post combines 2 of my favorite things that you do on your blog, Elsie — phoetry and writing from unusual points of view! Thank you for this peek into an animal’s life! Delightful combination of pictures and words, as always! 🙂
Footprints in the snow! Mystery continues…..maybe another chapter next week? Thanks for sharing the beauty around you with the rest of us!
Oh, I was thinking of tracks today, too. Mine were tunnels from the mice…
It was fun following the trail through the snow and poem!
I love the pictures that go with your writing. I laughed thinking of how disruptive the snow was for you. I’m so sorry. That has to be frustrating, but it looks so beautiful and it inspired some nice writing :).
Your poem is so strong. Woven in the photography is beautiful. I wonder what I will see after we get a foot of snow tomorrow. I think there is a fox in the backyard somewhere.
My heart is soothed reading your words. They were made to be read out loud!

Beautiful! I know people are tired of the snow…but I still love it…and seeing tracks after a fresh snow always brings a smile to my face….just like your pictures did.
Oooh – I love the way you led us through this mysterious visitor’s journey. I love waking up to these tracks, too – in the still of the night, there is so much activity!
Not many words and pics are needed to take a reader along to this nature walk. It brings calmness after a long hectic day.
I smiled when I saw the tracks in the snow. This morning as we were getting into the car, my oldest was excited to see deer tracks in the yard. Both of my older girls love to look at tracks in the snow and talk about who they probably belong to.
I had never heard about phoetry. What a fun concept. I loved the blend as a reader. Enjoy your walks in the snow. I love the crunching sound it makes.
Our brief dance with snow is almost over in Portland. thanks for sharing the beauty you found in someone’s nighttime adventure.
Phoetry – a new word for Webster’s. I often see footprints in the snow and wonder what was out during the night and what was it looking for.
Wonderful, Elsie, words & pics. You made me follow along, looking (lurking?) to see if I could discover who. Thanks for the adventure!
Love this ‘phoetry’! Made me smile and daydream. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely, but I’m curious…who was exploring? Surely there’s someone who can decipher those prints. We had a lovely snow on Sat., all remnants erased by rain on Monday.
Beautiful photo poem. Thanks for sharing a slice of life I don’t see. So interesting how our climate colors our understandings and reflections.
Love that gem of a poem and the images that follow. Great work my friend 🙂
Poem is great and the photo illustrations are perfect. I was just standing looking out at my deck this weekend and was wondering who had been wandering around out there.
